Terms of Service

1. About Guideon

Guideon ("we", "us", "the Platform") is an online marketplace operating at www.guideon.om that connects tourists with certified local tourist guides and tourism companies in the Sultanate of Oman. By using the Platform, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Eligibility & Account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that:

• The information you provide is accurate and current.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
• You will notify us promptly of any unauthorized account use.
• Guides and tourism companies must hold valid licences from Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism where required by law.

3. Role of Guideon (Marketplace, not Operator)

Guideon is a marketplace facilitator. We do not operate tours, employ guides, or guarantee specific experiences. Tours are provided by independent third-party guides and companies. Guideon's role is limited to:

• Listing certified guides and their services.
• Facilitating bookings and communication.
• Holding deposits (when applicable) until tour completion.

4. Bookings, Cancellations & Refunds

Bookings: A booking is confirmed only after the guide accepts it. Guideon may auto-cancel bookings unaccepted within 24 hours.

Free cancellation: Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the tour start receive a full refund (less any payment-processor fees).

Late cancellation: Within 48 hours — 50% of tour cost is non-refundable. Within 24 hours — no refund.

No-show: No refund.

Guide-initiated cancellation: Full refund + Guideon credit equal to 10% of tour cost for re-booking.

Force majeure: Weather, government restrictions, or other events beyond control — full refund.

5. Guide Responsibilities

• Maintain a valid Oman MoHT licence (if required for your service category).
• Honor all confirmed bookings or cancel with at least 48 hours notice.
• Provide the service as described in your listing.
• Respond to messages within 24 hours during operating hours.
• Comply with Omani laws including taxation of self-employment income.
• Carry appropriate insurance for your activity (recommended).

6. Tourist Responsibilities

• Arrive on time at the agreed meeting point.
• Treat your guide with respect and cultural sensitivity.
• Follow safety instructions and dress codes (especially at religious sites).
• Disclose any medical conditions relevant to the activity.
• Pay agreed-upon prices through the Platform — direct cash payments outside Guideon are at your own risk and not protected.

7. Payments & Pricing

All prices are displayed in Omani Rial (OMR). During the launch period, Guideon does not charge platform fees. After the free period ends, a service fee (currently planned at 10-15%) will be added to bookings — we will notify users in advance. Currency conversion shown elsewhere is indicative only.

8. Reviews & User Content

Reviews must be honest, based on actual experience, and free of profanity, discrimination, or personal attacks. Guideon may remove reviews violating these standards. You grant Guideon a non-exclusive licence to display content you submit (reviews, photos, profile data).

9. Prohibited Activities

• Creating fake accounts, reviews, or bookings.
• Scraping, copying, or reverse-engineering the Platform.
• Circumventing fees by arranging payments outside Guideon for tours initially contacted through the Platform.
• Soliciting users for unrelated commercial purposes.
• Uploading malware or illegal content.

10. Liability Disclaimer

Guideon provides the platform "as is." We are not liable for: actions of guides or tourists, accidents during tours, lost property, weather, government decisions, or service interruptions. Maximum liability is limited to the amount you paid Guideon in the preceding 12 months. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits — they apply to the extent permitted by law.

11. Privacy

Your data is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations, fraud, or repeated cancellations. You may close your account at any time from your dashboard.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law & Contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Muscat.
